Dodge City, Kansas
There’s No Place Like Kansas … for discovering the West!
Dodge City is a gateway to history that began with the opening of the Santa Fe Trail in 1821. As a frontier outpost, a trade center for travelers and bison hunters and a major railroad shipping point, Dodge City was the hub of activity on the Western frontier through much of the 1800s. Lawlessness reigned as buffalo hunters, railroad workers, solders and drifters settled their differences in shoot-outs. Notable lawmen such as Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp became legends in their own time as they fought to establish law and order on the streets of Dodge City.
