An Evening in Downtown Lawrence for Final Fridays

A Faces & Places Roadie Blog

It's hard not to notice art in one way or another in downtown Lawrence on any given day but on the last Friday of the month you can find the Lawrence art scene exploding with exhibits, more so than usual. On my latest Faces and Places tour, I was able to visit one of my favorite Kansas cities and explore one of the sides to it that I have not yet delved into. A few of my friends joined me and together we explored some of the stops along the Lawrence Final Fridays Art Walk and participated in a very creative dinner experience. I visited many places, most of which I had never been to and was quite surprised by what I've been missing.

A Festival of Performers in Lawrence

Sword swallowers, Fire-walkers and Pogo-stick stuntmen are among the dozens of performers taking to the streets in Lawrence this month for the 5th annual Busker Festival. They do a lot of what I like to call, “Useless skills” like fire-eating and sword-swallowing, contortionists, Pogo acrobats. There are also plenty of musicians. This year there will also be food vendors. "

Gravel Rocks! – The Dirty Kanza 200

The Dirty Kanza 200 is a mighty event in the heart of the Flint Hills. Dubbed North America’s Premier Annual Ultra Distance Gravel Race the cycling event may seem like an anomaly to many, but to the good people of Emporia and those in the racing community, the DK200 is a powerhouse that tests the endurance of racers from all over the world.
