The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism is gearing up for its annual “Becoming an Outdoors-Woman” weekend, and you could win a spot for yourself*.Women will be gathering at the Rock Springs 4-H Center near Junction City, May 18-20, to practice the skills you need to get the most out of the great Kansas outdoors. You’ll end the weekend with new confidence about hunting, fishing, camping, boating and backpacking. If you’re already an experienced Outdoors Woman, this is a great opportunity to meet others who share your passion. If you’re a beginner, learn about the outdoors with experts on hand. This is hands-on learning, geared toward adults, and non-competitive. Four different blocks of training are offered beginning at noon on Friday. Each is about four hours long and has 6-10 different topics. You’ll get to choose what most appeals to you in each block. You’ll be bunking down in cabins with bathrooms on site.
