Sanders, who is on a cross-country road trip with her husband and their three home-schooled kids, stopped to tour the Western hemisphere’s only underground salt museum on May 11. The family donned hard hats and rode a mine elevator 650 feet underground, with Sanders capturing their journey in photos and words:

“My son was IN HIS ELEMENT. He sucked in every view and every spoken word. In a word, he was in AWE of his surroundings … The museum is heavy on hands-on, interactive displays, which of course, suits homeschoolers JUST FINE!” Read the rest of Sanders’ engaging post.
